Roots in Alpharetta is a blog about living in one of America’s most affluent, high-tech suburbs. Topics include suburban life, local politics, the IT industry and the restaurant scene.  The blog’s name and theme was inspired by a 2005  New York Times article on a rootless family who lived here for a short time.

The Bloggers

S. Lee Guy

Relocated to the Alpharetta area in 2000, Lee lives just across the county line in south Forsyth. He works in the IT industry for a company on Windward Parkway and is a member of a downtown Alpharetta church. He is married with two elementary-aged children, drives a minivan and lives on a cul-de-sac.

Mike is a rare find, a native Atlantan. Originally from Tucker, he’s lived in Dunwoody, Roswell and now Alpharetta. He’s married with two young kids. When not blogging Mike is a voice actor and loves movies, travel, beer, drawing, tattoos, podcasts and music. Mike’s father wrote for the AJC back in the day.

Mike writes a lot of Foodie Friday columns. You’re likely to find him around town peeking in the windows of new restaurants.

Stacy Zwiebel

Our newest blogger, Stacy is a student and an intern here at Roots. She’ll write a monthly column in between her school commitments. She’s a native of south Forsyth.

Being open, honest and transparent is important in building trust and credibility. We take that seriously here at Roots.

Restaurants and other businesses are reviewed on this blog. On rare occasions our bloggers receive a freebie or are invited to a media event. We certainly don’t ask for or expect this treatment but it happens. When it does disclosures will be made in the articles themselves.

While we cover and often break news in the Alpharetta area, remember that this is an opinion blog. Readers are encouraged to think critically and form their own opinions. Civil discourse on the issues is encouraged.

  1. DRW:

Great Blog here. Accidentally stumbled on it while looking for reviews of the new sandwich place on McFarland and have now spent an hour reading all the past reviews! Looking forward to getting to the other sections.

Absolutely love your blog. As DRW said, I found it purely by accident and I’ve added it to my favorites toolbar. I look forward to reading it every Friday. Thanks.

I look forward to Lee’s material. He writes about alot of subjects that I have only thought about. After reading about “cleaning for the cleaning crew” it made me think if he is going to do the “taking out the trash for….” column :)
