Number of the Month – LCIs in Johns Creek

Around the first of the month I publish the number of the month, a random bit of local trivia.

The number of Livable Centers Initiative studies in Johns Creek.

Alpharetta has two. Roswell has two. Even south Forsyth has an LCI study. Johns Creek has none. It’s a curious fact considering that mayor Mike Bodker sits on the board of the Atlanta Regional Commission and is so involved in regional planning. The ARC encourages LCI studies and doles out Federal grant money to projects they deem worthy.

Why doesn’t Mike Bodker eat his own cooking?

    And a LCI is what?

  2. Kim:

The same reason why it is always easier to spend other people’s money.

The same reason why Kim Jong Il and Castro don’t live in the squalor that they dictate is good for everyone else.

    It’s good to be king.

Rats! My link didn’t work — that was the best part.

I can’t speak for Mayor Bodker but LCIs typically work for places that are either historic town centers or future transportation centers. The only centers that Johns Creek has are shopping centers. Or maybe they are the only city in North Fulton that hasn’t been infiltrated by foot soldiers of the insidious Agenda 21.

I think we all need to move to Johns Creek… except I hate it over there. :-)

  6. Lee:

Michael – I’d argue that the State Bridge / Medlock Bridge intersection would fit that category. It’s the closest thing JC has for a town center.
